Abbott’s $750 million plan for tech colleges

Liberal leader, Tony Abbott has announced a $750 million plan to build about 30 technical colleges if he is elected on Saturday.  Each college will receive up to $25 million in grants.  The colleges will run under a private-public partnership and will give year 11 and 12 students a “clear pathway between school and apprenticeship”.

Mr Abbott’s education policy also includes a $120 million technology fund of which all schools will receive money to buy computers, digital cameras and smart whiteboards.  Mr Abbott said the money would be paid directly to schools allowing the school to decide what they need.
