Building Revolution overspending hits taxpayers
The Building the Education Revolution program is using Victorian taxpayers money to complete projects. Many of the library and classroom projects are over budget with 44 projects completed, 785 under construction and 420 awarded tenders but not yet commenced.
Opposition Education spokesman Martin Dixon said, “...Victorian government school students have missed out compared to Catholic and independent schools that managed their own BER projects.” However, Education Minister Bronwyn Pike said that through the “rigorous” tender process schools got “value for money” and got the buildings they wanted.
