New student retention plan

Labor launched a new $2 million policy called No School, No Play.  It is a new national school truancy and student retention plan which aims to increase student retention rates through weekend sport and is supported by eight national sporting codes.  Students will be asked to sign a “school attendance self declaration”.

The program will have people from every level of the main sporting codes including volunteers working on particular projects with the schools and local sporting clubs. Employment Participation Minister Mark Abib said, “Sport is a great motivator for many young people.”
