Pilot programs for 15 hours of kindergarten

Minister for Children and Early Childhood Development, Maxine Morand announced that twenty kindergartens programs in metropolitan and regional Victoria will run pilot programs for 15 hours of kindergarten.  These programs will take place during the second half of 2010 and throughout 2011.

Ms Morand said, “Through the pilot program, issues in the roll-out can be identified early and strategies developed to reduce barriers to expanding kinder programs, particularly in the disadvantaged communities.”

15 hours of kindergarten for four year old children is a national requirement which will be introduced by 2013.
