Tony Abbott to increase education tax rebate
The Opposition Leader, Tony Abbott has promised to increase the education tax rebate of up to $1000 per child if he wins the election. If elected, the means-tested rebate will start on 1st January 2011, “which means that eligible parents will be able to claim the rebate for expenses incurred for the next school year,” said Mr Abbott.
Parents will be able to claim for expenses including laptops, home computers, home internet, printers, education software, school photos, sporting fees & equipment, government and non-government school fees, special education costs for children with disabilities, camps & excursions and extra-curricular school activities.
