Torquay needs a secondary college

Each day hundreds of students in Torquay are forced to commute to Geelong as Torquay does not have its own senior secondary college. Torquay College currently has students from prep to year 9 and in 2012 will expand to a year 12 school.
Residents in Torquay have been set against each other due to a community campaign of which parents “are concerned about the congestion at the current site and wanted their children to have a broader range of subjects in Year 12.” Michael Crutchfield, South Barwon Labor MP has blamed the campaign group of “bad mouthing” Torquay College; however spokeswoman for Concerned Parents About Torquay Surf Coast Schooling, Glenda Arenson rejects the claim that “anyone has said anything negative about the school”.
If the Liberal Party were elected it would build a $20 million year 7-12 secondary college in Torquay.
